19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a former number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
This marks his maiden championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various events.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.
The player's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.
He defended 4 initial break points in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
