Government Official Confirms MoD Looking at Security Risk from Chinese Cars, as Personnel Advised to Avoid Secret Talk in Cars.

A defense official has revealed that the Ministry of Defence is actively examining the potential security risks posed by Chinese cars, while staff have been told to refrain from discussing secret matters in all cars.

Security Guidance for Defence Staff

During a recent interview on LBC, a defence minister commented on claims that Ministry of Defence officials have been told not to discuss secret material while riding in China-made cars.

The minister said that the ministry is “investigating” cars from China within its fleets, however noted that security is a concern in all modern cars.

Our department has a collection of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and Chinese ones account for a very small number.
But regardless of if you’re driving a vehicle from China or a non-Chinese car, what we’ve asked our people is not to plug Ministry of Defence technology into their vehicle, not to have discussions at a classified classification in any vehicle, because of the growing threats of surveillance that are present in all automobile, to restrict those confidential conversations in secure locations. This is a wise and sensible thing for anyone worried about safety.

When it was put to him that it would be wise for the MoD to stop using every cars from China, the minister responded: That is exactly what we’re investigating at the present time.”

Wider Defence Background

This revelation follows reports from Norway and Denmark have warned the UK to the presence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese buses, which could enable the Chinese government to disable buses and cause chaos to public transit.

Furthermore, a Russian spy ship was reportedly shining laser beams at RAF pilots, labeled a “extremely risky” act by defence officials.

This broader defence situation highlights the significance of strong measures and caution in all areas of government activities, from transport usage to discussions habits.
